i’m on firefox, on windows 10.  i’m new to xkit but i gather that this error generally means i installed the old xkit extension.  however that is just not so, i installed it straight from the mozilla listing (the “w” edition), and when that gave me this error i uninstalled and installed instead from the latest github release and that gave me the same error.

If New XKit gives this error message, it has failed to reach new-xkit.github.io - if you can connect to this page, another add-on you’re using is blocking the connection. The most common culprit is NoScript, but there may be others we don’t know about yet. Whitelisting the domain name in the offending script-blocking extension(s) will allow you to proceed with installation normally.

I’m getting a problem where I’m seeing all new text additions on a few posts I’ve reblogged recently, even when the post is not reblogged for me. As I cannot click on the post in the activity to go to the post on my blog or the blog I reblogged it from (it only goes to the OP) I cannot block the post’s notes.

It sounds like you’re talking about Conversational Notes - check out this post for details on controlling the mess it makes in your Activity page.

Hi I had to uninstall xkit from my chrome because an unknown extension was screwing with my google docs account. Now I’m running into a few problems, starting with the fact that every time I open up or reload tumblr it says xkit is initializing set up but then can’t reach the server, no matter what wifi I’m using when or where I am. On top of that, some of the features I really valued having xkit for have disappeared??? Using one click reblog, I used to be able to toggle which of my three blogs the post was going to which was super handy, now no matter what I do I can’t get that flexibility back! Lastly, I don’t know if tumblr format changed or what but the post creator buttons follow me while I scroll down the page which is outrageously annoying and I don’t know what to do about ANY of this. I’ve uninstalled it and reinstalled it twice and sent bug reports and I just don’t know what to do. Please help!

If XKit is failing to install, it may be that you’re trying to use the original XKit, which is no longer maintained - get New XKit for Chrome here.

The One-Click Postage blog dropdown can be toggled on from its preferences, under “Popup options” (”Show blog selector”), and scrolling new post buttons can be toggled off in Tweaks’ preferences, under “User Interface Tweaks” (”Scroll the new posts icons along with me”). It sounds like you might alternatively be looking to stop avatars from scrolling with posts, which is under “Dashboard Tweaks” (”Stop avatars from scrolling along with the post”).

In future, if you need to uninstall New XKit for any reason, we highly recommend creating an XCloud account to preserve your settings! When you install fresh, you can now skip the tour and be brought directly to the XCloud panel to restore your preferences.

If you are using New XKit already and installation is still failing, be sure you can reach this site, and if you can, ensure you have its domain (new-xkit.github.io) whitelisted in any script-blocking browser extensions you use. If New XKit is unable to reach this domain for any reason, installation and updates will both fail.

Anonymous asked:

Since yesterday I can't open blogs anymore. I can only open them on the site of my tumbr dashboard but not as an own site. I tested it on a browser wihtout xkit and there it works

This is a current Tumblr problem. It seems as if browsers you haven’t logged into Tumblr with will work, but as soon as you log in, blogs will redirect to the dashboard. Blogs with custom domains are not affected by this for some reason.

mod april new xkit replies i can personally guarantee it isnt xkit - since i logged in on Edge they started redirecting there too anonymous

This is a current Tumblr issue. Any posts made via the mobile app (and some posts that weren’t, but Tumblr claims were) are, at the moment, completely uneditable on desktop. This includes any XKit extensions such as Tag Replacer and Quick Tags, and there seems to be no workaround (for now at least).

Hello. I don’t know what is causing this, but I am no longer able to see previews of blogs when hovering over the blog icon with my mouse. What might be causing this, or how can I fix it? Thank you!

This is a result of your computer having (or thinking it has) a touchscreen. You can force your browser to behave as if you don’t:

  • Chrome: navigate to chrome://flags/#touch-events and set “Touch Events API” to Disabled.
  • Firefox: navigate to about:config and set the preference dom.w3c_touch_events_enabled to 0.

You may have to restart your browser after making the change, and your browser may not play nice with your touchscreen until you change these settings back, assuming you actually have one.
